- Sterifilt®
- Composition : Polypropylene membrane filter. Compatible with all types of syringes (BD, BBraun, Terumo, Nevershare, Pic, Chirana, 1 ml, 2 ml, 5 ml, 10 ml, Luer).
- Properties : Sterifilt® reduces injection related harms, such as: abscesses, phlebitis, bad hits and oedemas.
- Purity: Eliminates 99% of the particles present in a solution. 95% of the particles left after filtration measure less than 5 µm.
- Drug retention : Retains virtually no drug (6 times less than a cotton or cellulose filter).
- Filtration performance : Very low dead volume. Efficacy tested in a laboratory setting.
- Indications : Prevention of tissue damage and other complications due to the injection of insoluble particles
Promotes the single use of filters. Prevention of viral transmission (hepatitis C) due to the re-use of filters.
- Caution : A second use of the Sterifilt® is less efficient and adviced against. Sterifilt does not filter out viruses or bacteria.
- Clinical history : Developped in France since 1997 with the help of harm reduction organisations. Tested with brown and white heroin, cocaine, crack, amphetamines and crushed tablets such as Subutex®, Ritalin® and morphine sulphate capsules.
- Direction for use : Introduce the syringe into the Sterifilt®, rotate gently while practicing some pressure on it. With NeverShare and BBraun syringes, a clic signals correct fitting. Hold it vertically. Draw up slowly.

- Stericup®
- Composition : 2,5 ml aluminium sterile spoon in a range of colours.
- Properties : Reduces the risk of bacterial contamination (abscesses, general infections, endocarditis) related to the use of non sterile cookers. Reduces the risk of viral transmission (HIV, hepatitis B and C) related to the re-use and sharing of cookers. Encourages the use of an aseptic preparation method. Reinforces, by its colour, the strategy of personal paraphernalia identification and imits the risk of accidental sharing.
- Indications: Prevention of infections related to the sharing of spoons / cookers. Promotion of single and individual use of sterile recipients.
- Caution : Fingers should never touch the inside of Stericup®: any bacteria, fungi or viruses such as the hepatitis C virus, present on the surface of the skin or in traces of blood which can be invisible, may contaminate the drug-mix being prepared for injection. Never draw-up after someone else has used the spoon. Even if it has been cleaned, the spoon can still contain viruses from someone else’s syringe, filter, water or fingers. One jab is all it takes to get infected. Never re-use someone else’s work.
- History : Developed in France since 1996 with input from needle exchange programs. Safety and efficacy validated with laboratory testing using brow heroin (base), white heroin, cocaine, crack (cocaine base), amphetamines and crushed tablets.
- Directions for use : Press down on the Stericup® handle to remove it from the blister without touching the inside of the cup. Take the plastic handle between thumb and index with the inscription “up” up, and insert the Stericup® in the handle. After injection: compress the injection site with the sterile post-injection swab to absorb the blood and facilitate its coagulation.
